Newcastle 2017: celebrating CIAT’s year. The weekend includes the Institute's AGM, Presidents' Ball and a host of fringe events — a highlight of the CIAT calendar

The AGM weekend will be taking place this November in Newcastle. Full details are below of the events taking place and you can book using the form at the end.

Annual General Meeting

Saturday 10 November
09:30 (timings tbc dependent on the business nearer date)
Ceres Auditorium, VIA University College Campus C
Free for all members to attend, registration required.

The Annual General Meeting is the yearly business meeting for the Institute, as per the Laws of the Institute. Each Region/Centre has representation at the AGM, which is its Councillor and the Voting Delegates, elected to represent each Region/Centre Committee. The AGM is followed by a lunch for delegates at the University canteen.
 

President's Ball

Saturday 10 November

The President's Ball, hosted by the President, is the Institute’s annual networking and social event to celebrate the continued successes of Architectural Technology and CIAT. The Ball is attended by delegates, industry guests and members. Tickets include a pre-dinner drinks reception, three course dinner and entertainment with a live band and dancing. The Gold Award recipients will be announced and presented.

Fringe events

Annual Programme Leaders meeting

Friday 17 November
Northumbria University
 
The meeting is a forum for programme leaders of Accredited programmes only. A CPD event, open to members, will take place in the afternoon — full details to follow.

 

Membership progression session

A Membership Progression Session will be held on Friday 17 November from 11:30-13:00 in Room B003, Ellison Building, Northumbria University,  NE1 8ST.

Guidance provided in the power point presentation will relate to the qualifying processes to attain MCIAT via the POP Record or Professional Assessment and TCIAT via the POP Record.

The presentation will be followed by a Q&A Session.

Rosie Johnson ACIAT, aspirATion Chair, Northern Region will be presenting their vision for the future of the Region's aspirATion Group.

The session is free for members to attend and colleagues are also welcome to attend. However, spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first come first serve basis with CIAT members taking priority. Refreshments will be provided.

Welcome to (virtual) reality: Emerging Technologies CPD event

A free CPD afternoon immersed in technology — Friday 17 November 2017

Northumbria University is delighted to host this engaging and interactive session which will explore aspects of surveying and laser scanning, realisation of field information within 3D and immersive software. The University’s BIM-focused research Institute — BIM Academy will provide attendees with an insight into the future of BIM and virtual reality. This CPD afternoon is open to all.

14:00-16:00    Delegates will split into four groups to rotate through the following seesions: (4 x 30 mins)

Session 1    Demonstration of laser scanning, drone facility and rapid prototype facility
Session 2    Demonstration of virtual Newcastle Gateshead model and immersive facility
Session 3    Hands on short Revit exercise
Session 4    BIM Academy activity; research and externality

16:00-16:30    Plenary and close

A light lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Friday event hosted by the Europe Centre Committee

Friday 9 November 17:00-19:00, Welcome reception at the City Hall, Aarhus
19:00-23:00, organised by the Europe Centre Committee, dinner with entertainment
Tickets: £35 per person Open to all members and their guests (subject to space).
 
There will be a drinks reception at the City Hall with an exhibition of student work, followed by a dinner.
