Belfast | Why train as an expert witness?
A free CPD event to find out more about the practice direction and how you can comply
Did you know that if you act as an expert witness, your duty to the court overrides any obligation you have to the instructing party or person paying your fees?
In April of this year, the High Court of Justice for Northern Ireland issued practice direction with the key message to expert witnesses that they will be expected to be qualified, not only in their specialist subject matter, but also as expert witnesses. In other words, they should be trained and accredited in the role and duties of the expert witness.
Led by John Fletcher, Director, RICS Dispute Resolution Service and Tim Hopkins, FRICS, now is your opportunity to find out more about the practice direction and how you can comply.
Expert witness training is being developed by RICS specifically for Northern Ireland and will run later this year. More detail will be available at the event.
A short information event will be held on 10 September 2019, 11:30, at the RICS NI office for potential participants to find out more.
