Belfast: Northern Ireland Region walking tour

As part of its planned continuing personal and professional development, the Northern Ireland Region committee is dedicated to providing its members with unique opportunities to maintain and enhance a high quality of professional competence. It is delighted to offer members the opportunity to participate in a Belfast Construction Walking Tour:

Title: Belfast Construction Walking Tour

Date: Fridays 6 and 20 October

Time: Meeting at Blackstaff Square (directly behind Robinsons Bar) for 10:00am start

Speaker: Tour led by Gary Potter from Future Belfast with input from project managers on some of the main construction projects in the city centre.

Cost: The cost for this event is being jointly covered by CIAT and CIOB. As places are limited and demand is high, cancellations or no-shows will result in a £10.00 charge to cover the costs unless a minimum 48 hours notice is provided.

Please state which of the dates, 6 October or 20 October you wish to attend. Please note that numbers are limited to 13 CIAT members on each tour and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Additional notes:
The event is being co-hosted by the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists and the Chartered Institute of Building. Members from both professional bodies are very welcome to attend.

The meeting point will be Blackstaff Square, off Amelia Street, Belfast BT2 7GS (directly behind Robinsons Bar). 

From this location the tour will pass the Grand Central Hotel project, with a brief update from the main contractor (Graham). The tour will then progress past a number of city centre construction schemes where an overview of the projects will be presented. The next stop will be at the River House site for an update on the project by the main contractor (Mac-Group). The tour will then walk via the Cathedral Quarter to the new Ulster University GBD site (for a site visit hosted by Lagan Somague) and Great Patrick Street student accommodation project where an update will be provided by the main contractor (Gilbert Ash).
