Birmingham | LGBT History Month: A discussion on Diversity and Inclusion in Construction

5.30 pm-7.30 pm, 18 Feb 2020
West Midlands

This event will discuss the experiences of LGBT professionals in the industry and how to drive our sector forward.

LGBT History Month is celebrated in February and it is an annual month-long observance of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history, and the history of the gay rights and related civil rights movements.

This event is hosted jointly by the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT) and Building Equality (BE), the latter launching their Birmingham branch. CIHT and BE would like to encourage Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) discussion through guest speakers:

  • Malcolm Holmes, Executive Director of WMRE and Director of Rail for TfWM
  • Naheem Ahmed, EDI Representative for Enabling Works Contract North at Laing O'Rourke and Murphy Group Joint Venture (LM-JV)

The speakers will give an insight on their own experience as LGBT professionals in the industry and also discuss how they think CIHT and BE can help drive forward EDI in engineering / construction sectors.

Their discussion will be followed by Q&A and networking.

The event is open to members and non-members. Refreshments and nibbles will be provided.
