The importance placed on the role of the Assigned and Design Certifier as part of the Building Control Amendment Regulations (Republic of Ireland) is extremely challenging and can be fraught with a number of practical and legal challenges.

The Assigned Certifier is tasked with ensuring the building works meet the BCAR standards; however there are already a number of issues the assigned certifier has faced in these early stages since implementation, both professionally and in a legal context.
