Conference 10 am-2.15 pm, 23 Jul 2019
Greater London

Speakers from industry and academia will set the scene and discuss recent innovations stemming from research at Queen Mary and the Alan Turing Institute.

The subject of air quality has provoked much debate in the media, amongst policymakers, and within the public as concerns rise over the quality of the air we breathe both in our buildings and in our cities.

Helping to answer questions surrounding the quality of our environments, Queen Mary University of London and the Alan Turing Institute presents Air Quality in Urban Areas: Harnessing Data to Breathe Easy. This one-day conference will explore the issue of air quality within buildings, communities, and cities, looking at potential solutions presented through harnessing data, unleashing the power of machine learning, and cultivating artificial intelligence.

Speakers from industry and academia will set the scene and discuss recent innovations stemming from research at Queen Mary and the Alan Turing Institute, before presenting applicable solutions to issues of air quality.

Speakers include:

  • American air quality expert Chris Muller, coming over to the UK for a very rare keynote.
  • The man who led the development of the London Air Quality Network, Dr Gary Fuller of King’s College London.
  • Turing Fellow, and Deputy Programme Director for Data-Centric Engineering, Dr Theo Damoulas.
