Free seminar on Parts L and F of the Building Regulations. Spaces limited.
The first half of the seminar will examine the current Part L for both existing and new buildings. For existing buildings we will take a brief look at the different types of work covered by Part L – renovations, conversions and extensions. We will look at a number of examples to explore in more detail the best approaches to compliance depending on the work being undertaken. We will also touch on issues such as consequential improvements and issues relating to technical and economic viability.For new buildings we will look at some of the major areas that impact on compliance. We will look in detail at issues surrounding thermal bridging and air leakage – as these areas are critical to compliance. We will also look at how different M & E specifications and heating fuels affect performance. Using a series of examples we will explore a number of approaches to compliance for different building types. We will also look at the latest information on SAP2016 and how this may affect building specification.
In the second half of the seminar we will look at how the link between Parts L and F affects ventilation strategies for a range of building types. We will look at a range of different ventilation strategies – including passive, mechanical extract, MVHR and demand controlled – to examine the benefits and issues associated with each. Using a series of examples we will look at how to implement ventilation strategies for a range of building types. We will use the examples to examine the issues that affect performance and how to address these in design and on site.
