Brighton | Victorian Retrofit Open House
An exciting example demonstrating how a period, solid walled house can be transformed into a comfortable home needing minimal heating, is available to tour.
The rear elevation was upgraded in 2015 with woodfibre external wall insulation and triple glazing. In 2017 the whole house was refurbished including a highly insulated and airtight loft conversion (to self-declared EnerPHit standards) which requires no heating and is cool in the summer due to solar control integrated blinds, so truly comfortable all year round.
There is also a highly efficient ventilation system (MVHR) providing constant fresh air with heat recovery throughout the house resulting in excellent indoor air quality.
The bathroom walls have wood fibre internal insulation and a bespoke triple glazed, airtight sliding sash window.
