What is CIAT?
CIAT is a not-for-profit professional membership body that sets the standards for education, practice and professionalism in Architectural Technology. It is the only body able to award the regulated professional qualification of Chartered Architectural Technologist.
Chartered status reflects the prestigious, independent character of our Institute and recognises the distinct nature of the Architectural Technology discipline. Chartered status is bestowed by the UK government under Royal authority. CIAT Accredits programmes of study in the area of Architectural Technology at undergraduate and postgraduate degree level; it is not a university or college, and does not develop curricula or offer academic qualifications such as degrees.
Functions of CIAT
CIAT as the pre-eminent professional qualifying body:
leads and promotes the discipline of Architectural Technology;
sets and maintains the standards of education through Accreditation of undergraduate and postgraduate level qualifications;
collaborates with similar bodies to improve knowledge, skills and professionalism within the built environment; and
recognises excellence in Architectural Technology through the AT Awards.
