Role Description

Architectural Technician required. Salary: £32,472 - £35,430 per annum, 37 hours per week.

More about the role:

The Council has established a new Capital Construction Service, which will be the single team in the Council responsible for the delivery of all the Councils construction projects.

The scope is wide ranging – examples of projects include accommodation for older people, schools, health hubs, car parks, office space.

The service has three teams: Construction Programme Management who ensures the delivery of major projects (minor projects are undertaken by the Facilities Service), Design & Construction Quality who provide technical input into designs and Quantity Surveying who support cost management. As a new service we have a number of positions to fill, and we need people who share our values, who want to build a real reputation for service and efficiency and with an interest in their local community. It’s a new service facing a wide range of challenges and there is plenty of scope for creativity and innovation.

You will be responsible for the following:

  • To prepare designs and specifications, by coordinating and incorporating design information from architects and other building professionals to produce designs that meet the needs of the client and are value for money.
  • To assist the Architect to provide quality assurance for a range of new construction projects, alterations and redevelopments, by ensuring the schemes delivered meet client requirements, are functional, safe, sustainable, economical and aesthetically pleasing.
  • To deliver the day to day CAD drawing requirements of the team.
