You can elect to cancel your membership with the Institute during your professional career, however you can rejoin the Institute at any time.

Associate and profile candidate re-entry

If you were an Associate member or profile candidate you will need to just complete the joining process again and pay the re-instatement fee which is detailed below.

 

Architectural Technician membership lapsed for less than three years

If you attained the status of TCIAT and allowed your membership to lapse for less than three years, to re-instate your membership you will need to complete the joining process again and submit your previous CIAT membership number or proof of former membership along with the re-instatement fee which is detailed below. The membership subscription for the year is £230 (€267).

 

Architectural Technician membership lapsed for more than three years

If you attained the status of TCIAT and allowed your membership to lapse for more than three years, to re-instate your membership you must complete the professional practice units of the Architectural Technician POP Record along with a form outlining your CPD activities since becoming inactive. Once these units have been completed and countersigned by your Supervisor, you can then apply to re-instate your Architectural Technician membership by sending this in along with completing the joining process again and submit your previous CIAT membership number or proof of former membership along with the re-instatement fee which is detailed below.

 

Chartered Architectural Technologist lapsed for less than three years

If you attained the status of MCIAT and allowed your membership to lapse for less than three years, to re-instate your membership you will need to complete the joining process again and submit your previous CIAT membership number or proof of former membership along with the re-instatement fee which is detailed below. The membership subscription for the year is £265 (€307).

 

Chartered Architectural Technologist lapsed for more than three years

If you attained the status of MCIAT and allowed your membership to lapse for more than three years, to re-instate your membership you must complete the professional practice units of the Chartered Architectural Technologist POP Record, followed by successful attendance at a Professional Practice Re-entry Interview. Before completing these units, you will need to apply as a profile candidate (type C). In order to register as a profile candidate type C, you need to complete the joining process again and submit your previous CIAT membership number or proof of former membership along with the re-instatement fee which is detailed below.

If you were either a Chartered Member or a professionally qualified Architectural Technician, you must demonstrate to the Institute that you have retained your competence via appropriate CPD, as laid down in Clause 8 of the Code of Conduct. You will also need to complete a form outlining your CPD activities since being inactive.

To re-instate your membership you will need to complete the membership application form which you can complete online by clicking here or alternatively by downloading and completing the form below and including the £70 (€81) re-instatement fee and relevant annual membership subscription fee.
