Assistance required for research by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy

The Institute would be grateful for the assistance of Chartered Architectural Technologists to take part in research conducted by BEIS.

The Institute has been approached by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) which is conducting some research to explore the effects on practices in the construction sector of implementing different regulatory standards across UK nations post Brexit. Using hypothetical scenarios, BEIS aims to consider what might be required to maintain a degree of consistency that would protect businesses within the UK regulatory landscape.

They are particularly interested in reaching businesses who employ (or sub-contract) workers - architectural technicians and building/civil engineering technicians - on construction sites in multiple UK countries. For example, England-based firms who employ workers in construction sites in England and/or another UK country, or firms based in Scotland/Wales/Northern Ireland who employ workers on construction sites in England as well as their home market..

BEIS is hoping to be able to meet three Chartered Architectural Technologists for a one hour (individual) interview to explore the potential impacts (positive and negative) of this scenario across the UK construction industry. They have some questions to use as a framework for discussion as a start but essentially the aim would be to tap into industry expertise. They would be happy to visit any members wherever you are based in the UK.
