Award for Dan Rossiter MCIAT's blog on domestic BIM

Member Dan Rossiter MCIAT (left in photo) has been recognised as 'Best Blogger' in the recent BIM Awards held as part of the BIM Show in Newcastle upon Tyne.

When Mr Rossiter moved into his first house he was amazed at how unstructured all the information about his home was. Paperwork on building works, boiler safety, utilities information etc formed a cumbersome heap which was difficult to make sense of.

To modernise and streamline the information he used BIM to produce an information model of the house. This experience is the basis of his blog – ‘There’s no BIM like home’.  The highly informative and entertaining blog can be viewed here.  and is also being serialised in AT magazine.

Speaking of the Award, Mr Rossiter said 'I was genuinely surprised that I won this award.  I started this blog for me, to prove to myself that I could practice what I preach when it comes to BIM and explain it using simple plain language terms. Just over two years in, I have a strong following and get real positive feedback on the information that I share.  This award has vindicated my decision to start this blog, and will spur me to continue on.'
