Free waste reduction webinars

Cross-disciplinary environmental webinar series

To coincide with Green GB Week, the Society for the Environment has launched a new series of free webinars centred around the topic of ‘Waste Reduction – Six Months on From a Plastic Themed World Environment Day’.

The Society champions World Environment Day (5 June) – a UN Environment initiative to highlight key global environmental issues and the great work taking place around the world to resolve such problems. This year’s theme was ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’, which is a topic that has hit the media headlines in recent months.

World Environment Day is an excellent communications tool and driver for action. However, the Society strongly believes that the showcasing of the selected annual themes must have longevity to continue the awareness created. As a result, the first of five new cross-disciplinary webinar series by the Society will focus on waste reduction, with plastic used as a focus for a number of the confirmed Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) speakers. The final webinar in the series will go live exactly six months from World Environment Day – Wednesday 5 December.

The ‘Waste Reduction’ webinar series will consist of three expert led webinars, with two CEnv speakers per webinar. Each speaker will provide insight into waste issues and solutions from their different sectors and disciplines. You’ll hear perspectives from the water sector, recycling and waste management and construction, as well as from the high-rise business facilities at Canary Wharf, London.

CEO of the Society for the Environment, Dr Emma Wilcox, is keen to encourage learning opportunities, stating; 'The cross-disciplinary nature of these webinars is ideal for our diverse CEnv and REnvTech registrant base. We want to share good practice and knowledgeable insight from certified environmental professionals for the benefit of other environmental professionals and beyond.

'With a global registrant base, webinars provide the platform to allow such knowledge transfer to take place across the world – without the need for transport and the associated costs. Plus, the interactive Q&A element gives all delegates the opportunity to quiz the experts on specific areas of interest.'
