Members required to create and deliver sessions for RICS CPD Foundation

The tragedies of major fire incidents in recent years has cast a spotlight on fire safety standards, building regulations and risk management. Passive fire protection forms a crucial part of integrating fire safety throughout the building lifecycle.

The RICS CPD Foundation is holding technical sessions on implementing passive fire protection across numerous cities and are inviting CIAT members to create and deliver a session on the dates and cities listed below:

  • 14 May – Manchester (start 17.45)
  • 13 June – Sunderland (start 16.30)
  • 2 July – Exeter (start 18.00)

This session will discuss the myths and reality of fire rated foams, as well as the latest trends in the industry for passive fire protection and insulation, in order to ensure best practice. Different kinds of insulation and implementation methods will be discussed, including:

  • Fire rated foams
  • Intumescent smoke seals
  • Design and compliance standards
  • Implementation
  • Poor installation issues
  • Third party certification
  • Latest methods of fire compartmentation
  • New issues and trends

Any interested members are to create their own slides covering the above areas and speak for 50 minutes with a 5-10 minute Q&A session at the end. RICS would like to receive the slides a week or two before the scheduled event so that these can be abled to the venue’s audio visual system. Please submit your expressions of interest directly to Victor Mo, RICS - CPD Foundation Producer on vmo@rics.org by stating which is your closest location.

CIAT will not cover or reimburse any costs for delivering or attending these session(s). All expenses will be covered by RICS under their expenses policy:

We are unfortunately unable to pay a fee/offer accommodation for your participation in the event but are happy to cover reasonable travel expenses (within a 50-mile (approx.) radius from the venue) in accordance with RICS Members Expenses and Travel Policy.  All travel should be booked via RICS and my logistics colleague, will be in touch in due course to request your requirements.  Any additional member expenses should be submitted using the Member Expenses Claim form and for non-members with an invoice.  Please ensure any expenses are submitted no later than 4 weeks after the event has taken place.
