Wrexham student worked on award nominated project

A project worked on by an Architectural Design Technology student at Wrexham Glyndŵr University has been nominated for an international award.

As part of her studies Nichola Houlton worked on a 'live' Conwy County Borough Council project. She submitted designs for the Colwyn Bay Waterfront Project and these were selected by the council.

The completed project has now been nominated for a People’s Choice Award for the Institution of Civil Engineers which feature entries from around the globe.

Nichola spoke to local newspaper the Leader and said: "As I live a 5 minute walk away from the waterfront, I have experienced first-hand the immense effect it has made. The first recognisable difference is how hugely popular the promenade is now ...  now there is a constant influx of locals and tourists enjoying the Colwyn Bay coast with the modern improvements. The new concessions kiosk and seating has allowed people to sit down, relax and soak in the views and atmosphere.”
